I ran as fast as I couldbut I still could not lose sight of her. I knew she wanted me and she wouldhave me, but I still ran as fast as I could. I saw the whole forest pass me inone huge blur and suddenly, I was right in the middle of the road. She caught asight of me and dashed my way. I wanted to move but I could not. My feet wereglued to the floor, like a magnetic force was pulling them down. She caught me.
“Get ready. Your life isabout to be over. No one will save you now. No one wants to save you,” shewhispered in my ear. I woke up screaming but calmed down when I felt hispresence. I touched his ear and I twisted my finger in his short hair. Inoticed that he had shifted into a dog. He grinned and stroked his fingeragainst my cheek. I stood up and walked to the bathroom to brush my hair.
“How did you sleep?” Hesuddenly appeared next to me.
“Great,” I muttered. Weboth smiled at each other and I tried to get downstairs before he could. Ofcourse I could not because he jumped from the top stairs and landed on thewooden floor downstairs without a single sound. How does he do that? Iwondered. He doesn’t even hurt himself jumping from a flight of stairs while Ihurt myself just my bumping my knee in the sink. He saw the shocked look in myface. The same look I always showed after he made one of his supernaturalmoves. I stubbed my toe on the wood railing and screamed.
“Why are you sofragile?” He flew upstairs in a millisecond and carried me downstairs in histwo strong arms.
“I guess the fact thatI’m a human and you’re a werewolf kind of changes the way you look at people’sstrength,” I managed to say while his two arms squeezed me. We ran outside andwalked hand in hand to the lake across from my house. He dived in, clothes andall, and started grabbing fish with his bare hands. I chuckled and untied mylittle rowboat from the short tree stub.
“Zoe Brooks, you knowbetter than that!! Are you afraid to get your clothes wet??” He yelled from thewater. I jumped a little because I hadn’t known he was watching. I should haveknown though, that he was watching. He always kept a watch on me every secondof the day. He thought I was too weak but I knew by myself how well I could handlemyself. I had gotten this far anyways.
